After winning an Oscar for her role in “Walk The Line” movie in 2006, Reese Witherspoon was on the top of her career. However, her personal life was falling apart.

Witherspoon and then-husband Ryan Phillippe announced the separation, only several months after she has received the award for Best Actress.

The 38-year-old actress told Charlie Rose in an emotional “60 Minutes” interview on Sunday that the separation from Phillippe played a big part in her career slump.
“That was a tough year that followed. I got divorced the next year and I spent a few years just trying to feel better.” – Witherspoon said.

“You know, you can’t really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs. I was just kind of floundering career-wise because I wasn’t making things I was passionate about, I was just kind of working. And it was really clear that audiences weren’t responding to anything that I was putting out there.”

– Reese Witherspoon said of box-office flops such as “This Means War” and “How Do You Know.” Before they separated in 2006, Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were married for seven years. The couple has two children together: 15-year-old Ava and 11-year-old Deacon. However, today there are no hard feelings between two of them.

In October, two months ago, Ryan said in an interview that he has gotten to a “really great place” with Reese Witherspoon. He also told to the host Ricky Camilleri about a special moment which they recently shared together, while they were hanging out in New York.

“We got to meet up as a family and took a walk through Central Park with the kids, and it was funny – we were reminiscing then because we shot a lot of ‘Cruel Intentions’ [there], so there we were with Ava and Deacon talking, and they were tripping out on the fact that we were there shooting a movie before they were even a thought in our minds.” – Ryan Phillippe said.

The 40-year-old actor also said something about co-parenting with his ex-wife Witherspoon and Jim Toth, her husband who is entertainment agent. “It’s going well, and she’s happy and remarried, and our kids are incredible. I’m proud of the way we’ve handled it and who our little people are.” – Phillippe said about their children.
