Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is known for recycling her favourite outfits and now she has done it again by choosing to wear a beloved dress of Jenny Packham for a third time on Tuesday in New York City, during a public appearance.
The Duchess attended a glitzy gala dinner with her husband Prince William to raise money for St Andrews University in Scotland. Despite she is already five months pregnant, Kate looked slim in one of her favorite cloth items.
Both of the royal couple got their degrees there, and they were among 450 guests at the event in Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The Duchess, who wore Jenny Packham’s dress, smiled as she was met on the steps of the museum by St Andrews, an honor guard who was dressed in the university’s traditional red gown and official kilt.
Kate’s look was very elegant, but devoted fashion followers had no doubt that she has already worn this stunning dress twice before in public. She has gained a huge number of fashion followers thanks to her sensitivity to the economic climate, knack for classic style and often recycling of her expensive dresses.
The 32-year-old Duchess originally wore the Jenny Packham floor-length dress at a Kensington Palace dinner in aid of people with addictions in October 2013. In February this year, She re-wore the dress at black tie gala the National Portrait Gallery in London. Kate paired the dress with a priceless diamond necklace on loan from the Queen, for the respect of the royal institution.
When Her Majesty married in November 1947, the Nizam of Hyderabad necklace was given to her as a gift. The Nizam of Hyderabad consists of a long chain of 38 diamonds with a diamond-encrusted snap, and it was originally created by Cartier in 1930s. Instead of keeping her hair down as before, this time Kate swept it up in an elegant chignon. The Duchess wore diamond and emerald earrings, which were given to her as a private gift.
Even though she has already worn this dress with her handsome husband at her side, the gown still looked suitable for the most formal outfit she had attended during couple’s three day visit to United States. After basketball game, visit at the National September 11 Memorial Museum and dinner at Metropolitan Museum of Art, the royal couple is set to go back to the UK to reunite with their 16-month-old son George.
