Woman from Florida claims that she was forced to have sex when she was a teenager with Prince Andrew, but Buckingham Palace strongly denied such charges.
54-year-old Prince Andrew, whose formal title is the Duke of York, was named in court papers, filled in the Southern District of Florida in United States District Court, relating to Jeffrey Epstein, who is banker.
The woman, only known as “Jane Doe 3” in the filling, said that Jeffrey Epstein loaned her out to powerful and wealthy men, and one of them was the Duke of York. Jane Doe released a statement through Paul Cassell, who is her attorney. On Sunday, she spoke out against the public “attacks” against her.
“I am looking forward to vindicating my rights as an innocent victim and pursuing all available recourse. It appears that I am now being unjustly victimized again. These types of aggressive attacks on me are exactly the reason why sexual abuse victims typically remain silent and the reason why I did for a long time.
That trend should change. I’m not going to be bullied back into silence.” – She stated. On Saturday, the Mail on Sunday has published in a report that the woman is Virginia Roberts, an American who is 30-year-old. Sky Roberts, Virginia’s father, said that he hasn’t seen his daughter in three months because of the case.
“I support my daughter all the way. She has no reason to lie about this stuff. I don’t care if it’s Prince Andrew or the guy down the street, he should be prosecuted. These are very powerful people she’s dealing with, but it doesn’t matter who did it. If they did it, they should be prosecuted.” – He said.
However, a spokesman from the palace said: “It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts. The allegations made are false and without any foundation.” On Sunday, the prince went back to the United Kingdom from Switzerland.
He was at the vacation with Sarah Ferguson, his ex-wife, in the Alpine resort of Verbier. Also, their daughter, Princess Eugenie, and her friend Cressida Bonas were with them. At first, the palace issued a strong denial when the court papers were made public on Friday. Then, U.K. newspapers revealed more detailed statements from Roberts, and the palace made its second intervention.
“This relates to long-running and ongoing civil proceedings in the United States to which the Duke of York is not a party. As such we would not comment in detail. However, for the avoidance of doubt, any suggestion of impropriety with underage minors is categorically untrue.” – A spokesman said in a statement.
