A lot of people were surprised when it was announced that in the new sequel of Harry Potter called Harry Potter and Cursed Child, Hermione would be played by Noma Dumezweni – black English actress, since the first actress who played the role was white.
And a majority of people got accustomed to that idea. J.K. Rowling was first who publicly shared her support for the new Hermione stating than nowhere in the book she said Hermione was white. This is what she wrote in her tweet: “Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermione.”
However, Emma Watson who became famous for playing Hermione in all film series, did not spoke her mind about it until now. She broke the silence and spoke her mind about it, sharing a tweet saying: “Can’t wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year,” and then many hearts following this sentence. “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is the two part play which is based on a new book wrote by J.K. Rowling. The story continues 19 years later when Harry’s son starts his Hogwarts education.
The book first catches up with Harry, Hermione and Ron as adults before it shift its focus on Potter’s youngest son named Albus. If you were wondering, Harry is now an employee of the Ministry of Magic, who works a lot. He is also married and has three children. “As past and present fuse ominously both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.” This is synopsis of the play. Have to say it sounds quite interesting.
