Emma Watson talked about sexism in Hollywood and pointed up to the numbers. She uses every chance to talk about inequality in the film industry.
This time she had numbers – with how many male and female directors she worked, and producers also, and made strong point about the ratio of successful men and women in Hollywood.
“I have experienced sexism in that I have been directed by male directors 17 times and only twice by women. Of the producers I’ve worked with 13 have been male and only one has been a woman.” She told this in her recent The Guardian interview.
She also talked about how she so far always managed to be threaten equally as her male co-stars.“I have always insisted on being treated equally and have generally won that equality.” Emma talked how the media was the only thing she could not fight against and that she always had been treated unequal. Maybe you did not know but Watson works with UN. She launched campaign HeForShe that aimed to get men and boys to stand up for gender equality, but even that made her realize how big the problem is.
When the group for the campaign met for business diner this is what happened: “I think my work with the UN has probably made me even more aware of the problems. I went out for a work dinner recently. It was seven men… and me.” She also wanted to state a point that men are not the only ones who behave sexist; there are a lot of women out there who are very prejudiced.
