You have probably watched American Idol and wished to be the judge at least for that one performer, so you can say to him or her what you think.
Well, Ellen DeGeneres thought the same thing, but it turned out to be little harder than she pictured it. On her interview on SiriusXM radio show she shared with everybody how she actually hated that job on Fox.
“That’s one of the worst decisions I’ve made,” she said on the show on September 8. Than Stern, a host on the show replied to her: “You know what it is? And I found this too, when I started doing America’s Got Talent. You think it’s going to be easy to tell someone honestly what you think.”
When Stern asked her why she agreed on judging in the first place she answered: “As a fan of the shows, it doesn’t matter that I sing or that I know anything about pitch or anything. I’m like everybody else at home. It’s American Idol. And you’re watching and you’re a fan. So I thought, I’m gonna represent those people at home that have opinions. But then I just thought, like Howard says, I can’t break this person’s heart. I mean, let somebody else do that.”
And Ellen was not the only one who hated that job. Mariah Carey had similar experience with the show. At the time she said: “That was the worst experience of my life. I’m not going to get into what it was, but let’s just say I don’t think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show.” So be careful of what you wish for, things are not always as they seems.
