What we do knew so far was that this was a divorce between two adults who have remained close friends. We can even say that it was the most civilized divorce we have seen to the present day.
But the star of the band Coldplay Chris Martin has now admitted that divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow caused depression that lasted for a year. “I still wake up down a lot of days,” he said. “But now I feel like I’ve been given the tools to turn it around.”
In his first real interview since it all happened, Martin (39) honestly talked about his unusual divorce – bizarrely called “conscious decoupling”. He told for the Sunday Times that divorce is “weird” by regular standards and that they still go on vacation together – Paltrow and their two children Apple (11) and Moses (9). The singer revealed how he better cope with difficult times now. “You can come at it very aggressively and blame and blame. Or you can put yourself in the garage, so to speak. Take yourself apart and clean off the bits. Reassemble,” he said.
He added that he was inspired by the book “Man’s Search for Meaning” from psychologist and survivor of the Auschwitz Viktor Frankl, who described his experiences in the death camps in the book published in 1946. Also, he was inspired by Rumi, Persian poet and philosopher. “That one Rumi poem changes everything. It says that even when you’re unhappy, it’s good for you. It took me a year to get it. A year of depression and all that.” It is estimated that the former couple has 120 million pounds worth of wealth that they intend to divide equally. Since the divorce, Martin dated two women – Jennifer Lawrence and Annabelle Wallis.
