Kate Moss is a supermodel, actress and a writer. She was born born in Croydon, England on January 16, 1974. Kate’s atypical look (small stature and slight weight) seemed to be the 90’s response to the Amazon supermodels of previous decades.

Critics have been telling that Kate’s popularity would be short.-lived. But Moss has survived and proved them wrong. She is still a big star and her fame just rises day after day. Kate became the “It” girl. “It” girl is a term for girls whose face and body would show up everywhere.

Early life

Her real name is Katherine Moss. Her father Peter Moss worked at the airport. And her mom’s name is Linda Rosina who worked as a waitress. Peter and Linda met at the airport. She has a sister Charlotte and brother Nick. When she was only 13 her parents divorced and her father has remained an important part of herlife.


Storm Agency’s employee Sarah Doukas discovered Kate moss when she was fourteen at JFK Airport. After Kate’s pictures launched in the British magazine The Face, Liz Tilberis, Harper’s Bazaar editor decided to put Kate in a magazine. He featured her in September 1992. And that caught the attention of Calvin Klein who then signed Kate. Through his media saturation her was image on every bus stop, magazine and billboard in North America.

She caused controversy with her thin body, but it managed to land her on a 1993 People cover under the title “Skin and Bones.” Kate has made many movie appearances and the most significant are: Blackadder back and forth (as maid Marian), Beautopia, Unzipped (Isaac Mizrahi) ,Catwalk (Christy Turlington), Inferno (Ellen Von Unwerth).

She also appeared in Tv shows like: Models close-up (documentary), Mercury mobile phones (U.K.), French and Saunders (Bbc comedy series), Mtv’s 1996 choose or lose campaign (with Iggy Pop), Mtv’s fashionably loud.. During her career as a model she won many prizes in model industry: VH1 fashion awards, 1995 model of the year nominee, 1996 model of the year, 1997 best personal style nominee and many other.

Personal Life

Kate’s personal life became equally as controversial as her photographs. From her famous lovers (such as fiancé Johnny Depp), to the rumors of her drug addiction , and her rock-and-roll lifestyle, Kate was always been on magazine covers.


Moss had a relationships with several famous celebrities like: Peter Doherty, Jamie Hince, Jonny Deep..With Jefferson Hack she has sa daughter Lila Grace.
