She opened up on “Good Morning America” on Monday, and shared her fight with Lyme disease. She got very emotional and even cried, while going through the whole thing again as she told complete story to all Americans.
The hardest part was getting right diagnosis. As she said for the interview she was seeing many top doctors, specialist but she was not satisfied with the answers. They told her she has “Chronic fatigue syndrome” or that she just need to get out of bed or they thought she is depressed.
“This is what they do to a lot of people who have Lyme disease … they don’t have an answer for them, so … they tell them, ‘You’re crazy.'” She said during the show. It took her two months to find out it was Lyme disease, so finally she found a Lyme disease specialist and that was when things started to change for better. She found right doctor and with that a proper therapy and now she’s on half way with a treatment getting better every day.
She thanked her fans saying that they had big influence on her recovery. After she found out the truth about her sickness, she went public, and since then she got a lot of support from her fans. Avril told how she watched those videos and cried: “Honestly, I felt very, very loved. And it sounds silly saying it, but I really truly did feel my fans through the process.” So now she hopes she can help other who have the same problem.
She wants to raise awareness about this terrible disease. She is coming back on July 25 in L.A. on Special Olympics World Games opening ceremony. So all of you who really missed her can see her again and enjoy her music.
